IAM COMPACT Kick-Off Meeting in Athens, Greece (September 2022)
The kick-off meeting (KOM) of the IAM COMPACT research project was successfully held in Athens, on the 8th and 9th of September 2022, as a hybrid event. 36 researchers and collaborators from 14 countries joined the meeting in person, while several more participated online. The event featured a number of insightful presentations by highly qualified experts, setting the tone for the actions to follow in the coming months, as well as the strategic planning for the entire duration of the project.
Participants had the opportunity to meet in person, acquire a broad overview of project expectations, and discuss the challenges of the forthcoming tasks.
On the first day, the IAM COMPACT coordinator demonstrated the project’s overview and vision, while representatives of the consortium presented their institute and team, their work experience and role in the project, as well as their expectations from the project's implementation. Work package leaders then had the opportunity to present their tasks and timelines for the first months of the project.
On the second day of the meeting, each work package leader also had the opportunity to outline their perceived challenges and opportunities, by discussing what they are most excited and/or concerned about in the project; discussions on tasks and deliverables of the first year were also held among partners. Finally the Project Advisor from the European Commission’s side provided guidance on Horizon Europe project implementation as well as encouraged the consortium to deliver on its expected results, acknowledging the high ambition of IAM COMPACT, with the aim to have great impact on the support of Paris Agreement by contributing to the EU's and other countries' efforts in the development of their post-2030 climate efforts.
